I have Opinions again, guys!

(Though before I do, I have to say that I was really confused as to why they didn't show a trailer for next week's Mercy Street, and then I looked it up and apparently it was the last episode? Oh. I know it's not really a tie-up-every-storyline-neatly kind of show, but jeez. You spend all that money shooting on location and then can't give any characters any sort of closure? Did someone lose all the copies of the final episode and they figured they'd just air it with six? Unimpressed.)

I sewed exactly nothing today. Go, me! Ate far too many highly-discounted Valentine's-Day-themed chocolates, though, which was productive in an entirely different direction.

Decided on Saturday May 21st for my Morris Arboretum Regency picnic, so pencil it in! ;) Will post it in the Fab Club shortly, too.

Today I:

- Put the zipper in my plaid skirt. Am wearing it right at this very moment, but will get a picture sometime when it's less wrinkly.

- Sewed about six inches of twill tape onto the inner waist of the pelisse.

- Went to a superbowl party, primarily to help entertain the hostess for a while, as she cares about as much as I do for football. "Who is even playing? Am I supposed to like the horses or the cats?"

- Got home in time for my oldey timey soap. Not as dramatic as last week. I'm pretty sure the season is going to end with Mrs Patmore shanking Daisy, though. Or maybe I'm just going to reach through my tv and do it myself. I also thought the "oh, no one would be interested in paying to see our silly old house, tee-hee!" was a little too wink-wink, nudge-nudge on the nose, but eh. Thomas is going to off himself, isn't he...DON'T TELL ME.

I did precisely zero sewing today, so let's talk about the latest episode of Downton! (Or, you know, I'll talk about it and chuckle to myself; that's fine too.)

And yes, I'm watching them as they air in the US, so don't tell me anything! We're up to That Dinner Party (Jesus Christ).

...well apparently I have a lot of feelings about my soap opera. FEELINGS!

I did take a lot of pictures, but 95% of them are rubbish, so I'll wait to do a real recap til others have posted theirs and I can steal them! Also, the only pictures I got of me were a very few taken across the reflecting pool, and I'm making a truly idiotic face in all of them. So I'm thinking you may not in fact get any good pictures of my outfit this time! If none turn up I'll have to get trussed up and do a photoshoot in a park, grumble grumble, since I don't know when I'll have another chance to wear it.

The exhibit was really enjoyable, and well put-together I thought. I may as well post a couple of exhibit photos now, since I do have those! Although they're not very good either...

Well, I did have plans to sew last night after I got home from work, but instead spent the night curled on the couch, watching Pan Am and trying not to die. Thank you, cramps.

Got home after Downton Abbey had already started, so I watched it today (YES, this important enough to post about EVERY WEEK), and can I just say this show will never cease to surprise me? First I wasn't absolutely thrilled about 1912-14 fashions, and it sucked me into that...and before today, I would have sworn up and down that later teens dresses do nothing for me, but seeing them on the women of Downton Abbey? Gimme!

Seriously, one of Mary's evening dresses from this past episode? I MUST HAVE IT.

Well, someday, anyway. After 1/ I get reasonably decent at fitting 19-teens, 2/ this season comes out on DVD so I can pause and zoom on Every. Single. Frame. of this dress, and 3/ when I have time for a long-term project of this scale! 2014, maybe, then?

Believe it or not, after spending a good part of my afternoon in 1916, I managed to get some 18thc sewing done! Probably because I got some playthings in the mail today, so it helped me focus...
