I have Opinions again, guys!

(Though before I do, I have to say that I was really confused as to why they didn't show a trailer for next week's Mercy Street, and then I looked it up and apparently it was the last episode? Oh. I know it's not really a tie-up-every-storyline-neatly kind of show, but jeez. You spend all that money shooting on location and then can't give any characters any sort of closure? Did someone lose all the copies of the final episode and they figured they'd just air it with six? Unimpressed.)

- I am still not on board with the SS Mary-and-Henry-Romance, though clearly that ship has sailed as they got married this episode! I remain unconvinced that they're actually madly in love with each other but Mary's just been fighting it. And I really needed that to be sold to me this episode, to make everybody's badgering Mary about it okay. Especially Branson - jesus, dude, just date him yourself, leave Mary the hell alone! I think Mary had more chemistry with derpy Gillingham, and I always thought he was derpy. (Team Charles Blake 4Evar!) I don't really know what it is, as Dockery and Goode are usually both very good actors, and up til this episode I thought maybe it was on purpose? But, no, apparently they really are supposed to be madly in love. Hmmmm. *side-eyes* I think I'm going to pretend that the series ends either with Mary and Blake getting married and him gossiping excellently with Lord G and occasionally mud-wresting with Mary in the pig sty, or that Mary decides she doesn't want to remarry and instead devotes her life to the estate, although has several flings with hot men along the way. xD

- That extremely involved complaint aside, I enjoyed the rest of this episode vastly! I love me some Downton Drama, and this had it in spades. Edith called Mary a bitch right to her face and it was EXCELLENT. Mom and I both yelled "OH SHIT" at the tv at that point. I mean, as soon as Mary was certain about Marigold I knew shit was going to go down sooner or later, because Tom was absolutely right, and when Mary's not happy, ain't nobody gonna be happy if she has anything to say about it. The Fug Girls called her Hurricane See You Next Teatime in their recap, and - yes. Sounds about right!

And damn if I don't still thoroughly like her vastly better than Edith! Poor Edith...Mary is a total bitch and that was the most awful life-ruining thing to do, but. Edith, you should have told him. In that respect, it's actually better that Mary spilled the beans right off the bat - that would have been a really miserable marriage if he found out after the wedding. Better to know there's not enough trust in your relationship before you actually get legally bound to each other, right? I do hope Bertie comes back in the last ep, but really, I dunno. God (aka Fellowes) really doesn't want Edith to be happy! Although Edith is pretty good at sabotaging herself. Should have taken a tip from her bitch sister - she finally told Matthew about Mr Pamuk when she thought that would ruin things...but it didn't. Ahh, trust.

- Oh yes I called that with Thomas, didn't I. Poor formerly-scheming-now-sad-sack-Thomas. I just wanna give him a hug. Glad Baxter was fairly quick on the uptake, I would have been extremely upset if he'd died! Who'd have thought, right? I am of the opinion the Crawleys should hire him as the children's nanny if they don't need an under-butler; he is so freakin' adorable with little George.

- Carson needs to get the stick out of his ass this season - doesn't want the family upstairs to be associated with a "house of ill repute"?? Mrs Patmore's worked for this family for ages, going to tea at her B&B is NICE of them, Carson. Have you been hanging out too much with Lady Mary lately and caught some bitchiness? I like that Lord G told him off.

- Hallelujah, Daisy was bearable! Guess passing her exams was good for her. Related: awww, Molesley as a teacher. I didn't know I had such a soft spot for you til recently, Molesley! Now you and Baxter can get married and leave service - maybe Thomas can be Cora's lady's maid too along with his nanny job?

- The Bateses haven't been much of an entity this season, which is actually good as it means no one is getting arrested. That policeman has GOT to think some shady things about that entire household by this point... I keep waiting for something horrible to happen to Anna/the baby, please let it not, thanks.

- Spratt as the agony aunt - EXCELLENT. I knew it would be someone ridiculous but I didn't think that ridiculous. Two thumbs up.

- Now that we've wrapped up Mary's romantic storyline (?), can we focus next time on The Older Generation? Isobel's "I see through your bullshit" conversation with whatserface Asshole Larry Merton's fiancee was second only in excellence to Violet's of last week. Lord Merton's really not proving himself the sharpest pencil in the box, is he? Personally I still hold a torch for Dr Clarkson and Isobel, but apparently I'm a fan of hopeless romantic causes on this show, haha. Either way, more of Violet and Isobel squashing Miss Cruikshank like a bug, please!

- In terms of plot development, this show is just about expired so it is a good thing it's wrapping up - but I shall miss it so! It's been a great ride. Also, I think Michelle Dockery would wear 1930s fashions excellently; the I-Am-Angry-and-Sparkly black dinner dress had just some slight hints of the coming 30s slinky line, and I'm sad I'll be deprived of that. (Don't care as much about the daywear, but 1930s evening dresses are divine!)
