A Dedicated Follower of Fashion

 Here you go! Mostly ended up being silly pics, because, well, I'm a silly college kid, as are my friends. I am really happy with this dress (even though all my silly unenlightened friends laughed at my Big Butt all night [But it's a late bustle style...1890s-ish...ok, never mind], and almost died when they played Baby Got Back...), and I *heart* my green silk. 
P.S.: There was some seriously low lighting going on in the drawing room, so that's fair warning for what you can see in the pics. Or not see, as the case may be.

So since I have no class today, I planned on marking and sewing the hem on the masquerade dress. *takes skirt out, puts it on, starts to pin, stops in puzzlement* Somehow, the right side of my skirt is about four inches longer than the left. ??????? It's not really a problem, per se, as I'm wearing flats with it anyway, and the pattern pieces have a lot of extra at the bottom, so it won't be too short or anything. I'm just extremely mystified. I didn't touch the waist side of the pattern except to put on the waistband, nor have I done anything to the hem yet. I can't check the pattern pieces, as they're at home, but come on, it was a 4 piece pattern; there's no WAY I sewed it together wrong...the pieces are different enough in shape and I checked them when I sewed them forever ago at home anyway. 

So, who knows? Whatever. Off to re-pin (I took all the pins out to try and figure WTF was going on) and hem! (The eyelets are done, all 20 of them, by the way, so no panicking yet!)

I ought to be writing a paper on the Aechemenid empire right now. Like, really ought, as in, it's due tomorrow. But I decided to treat myself to a last LJ hurrah before writing said paper, mostly because I'm lazy and hate the Aechemenids, but also because I haven't really updated in forever. (Besides the whole shooting thing. But that's not usual content.) I just checked and the last sewing-related entry was over a month ago. How sad!

This is all just lots of evil costuming plans, typical of anyone with costume-ADD. But I haven't really had any in a while (besides the tentative Hallowe'en costume that I decided not to make because we weren't going to a party; as of tonight, oh, apparently we're going to a party. Dammit. Now I have no time to finish said costume and nothing to wear yet again. Gah.), so here goes.

Now all I need to do is make almost the entire dress (or the parts that need to be machined!) over my fall break: Friday night, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, and some of Wednesday. Sunday's the Ren Faire, and Saturday night I'll be finishing up faire stuff over Ali's house, so we'll see what happens!
