I should have probably done this write-up a little earlier, but I had to work today (after dumping Katy at the train station!), then came home and had dinner, and then went to see the new Batman movie with my family, which of course took like seven hours or whatever.

(Mum: "That was a silly movie." Me [offended]: "Well at the VERY LEAST you cannot say that you did not like to see Christian Bale without his shirt." Mum: "Oh I'd never say that.")

And then I had to read the f-list so I could steal all your pictures from Saturday before writing out my own post, to see if I look better in any of those than my own! I don't, but Katy did get the best shot of me, ever:

Poking a water droplet in the Water Works exhibit!

Er, anyway. I'm telling my story like Watson, wrong way round! (Also, yes, I've read those books too many times.) Saturday around noon (ish), [livejournal.com profile] rose_bertin and I traveled over the river and through the woods to Grandmother's house to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] blackcat452 and [livejournal.com profile] isabelladangelo in Fairmount Park to tour a few of the historic houses, have a picnic, and generally roast. Why do I always pick the worst days to be costumed in summer??

The music was excellent, the place wasn't too godawfully hot, and I got pictures!

And the ladies' association in charge of the house might have gotten me to fill out a volunteer form! Well, God knows they could use some new dresses, the poor things. (I don't know if they're quite sure what they're getting with me; I will not make you more horrible poly zippered colonial dresses, no I will not!)

It was just me and [livejournal.com profile] rose_bertin, and we sat in her apartment and ate cookies and fruit while watching Pride and Prejudice. But we were dressed up, so it COUNTED!

Then we went for a PROMENADE around the little park near Katy's apartment, because what's the fun in dressing up if you don't get at LEAST one person to ask you something stupid about it being Halloween early?

And then we went back to her apartment to watch some more of P&P - and fell asleep. Could we be any more exciting? And then woke up and watched Gangs of New York, and enjoyed Daniel Day-Lewis' outfits and all the plaid pants. And then I think I dreamed about making a plaid 1850s or 60s dress. Really.

Well, not that these pictures look a whole lot different than the ones I've already posted, so you all don't have to tell me you like it again, unless you want to. *grin*

Yay! I was going to put some kind of trimming on, but everything I did (lace, flowers, more ribbon, in that order) just looked kinda dumb, so I think I'll leave well enough alone. It looks pretty boring by itself, but when I put it with the dress, I think it'll be fine. Or if anyone has any suggestions, I'll take them, too! The Stash is a bit limited in hat trimmings, though, at the moment...Read more... )Also hemmed the actual dress this is meant to be worn with, yay? And I swear, if these "cut wizards" don't stop eating my pictures, exponentially multiplying cuts I don't want, and doing bizarre things with formatting, I'm going to suck it up and pay for a damn Dreamwidth account! I'm fairly stupid with html and all, but I was managing fine before this! It's almost like they're trying to drive people away from LJ... /bitching
