Keeeeef.

Obligatory birthday-celebrating post for probably my favorite person in rock and roll. (No, I know...there are a lot of close seconds!)

So, YAY, CELEBRATION OF BIRTHDAY! Also, it is nice to be noting the birthday of someone who's still alive to enjoy it. Hah, how many people were pretty sure he'd never make it to sixty-seven? (Well, probably the people who put him on the most-likely-to-die-next list back in the day...) :D

(And I posted this now because I'll be out all night later with one of my best friends. She's a Keith fan as well, so there will most definitely be much dedicating of drinks to him!)

Dislike: Waking up to hear Glenn Beck's radio show being played in the house. Loudly. Like: Putting on a Black Sabbath album. And playing it even more loudly. Take that, Glenn Beck.

I only worked the evening to close tonight, so I had time to sit around and sew, which I actually did. I never cease to be amazed at how things get done when I sit myself down for a good block of time with hand-sewing and a DVD (Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones, because I didn't think that would distract me too much. It didn't, except for every once in a while when I'd look up and see just how tight Jagger wore his trousers in 1972...that was pretty distracting)! I nearly finished cording the corset (OMG YAY), and can most definitely finish the cording tonight if I can pry myself away from the charms of Teh Interwebz. Maybe even cut out the binding...but let's not get carried away!

I'm off again tomorrow, so that looks promising for Sewing Progress...though I've really got to go to the mall and get some Christmas shopping done with. I hate that mall...and no lie, half my family is getting gift cards, because I have no idea what to get them. (They apparently never have any idea what to get me either. I wish they'd get me gift cards!)

And it's cold. Not that I'm complaining, but wow. (I've noticed that a lot of the people who complain about it being so cold are the ones who are too cool to wear proper coats. I saw a group of kids walking down the street when I was driving home from work at ten p.m.., and they were wearing sweatshirts. Just sweatshirts. Well NO WONDER YOU'RE COLD, STUPID.) 22F at the moment. (Sounds so much more impressive in C... -6, wow!)

George Harrison, 25 Feb 1943 -- 29 Nov 2001

Me too, Ringo! :)

On the local classic rock radio station I listen to driving to and from work, I caught a bit of the "Beatle Break" today, which was George-themed, of course. They played a quote from an interview with George in the Eighties I think, and he was talking about the universal sound: the om, amen, &tc. Very deep, very George. He finished it off with, "There are some sounds that just touch your heart. And make you vomit."

LOVE IT. XD

As regards work: OHMYGOD that was boring! We didn't have any Big Deals at our store, we just opened early, so we had the amount of customers to match. Busy, but not insanely so. And for just "busy," we were definitely over-staffed for most of the day. I haven't been that bored since college classes I didn't want to take! ;)

Also, I apparently need to watch a little more closely to how many hours I'm accumulating when I cover peoples' shifts...as part-time, I'm not allowed to go over 40 hours/week. And this week I'll have gotten up to 39. Whoops.

This means they'll definitely give me the days off when I want them for playing dress-up, right? 'Cause I'm such a good worker? ULTERIOR MOTIVES.

Then I was going to sew, but didn't because O LOOK, it's a Rolling Stones Thanksgiving day after Thanksgiving?? on VH1 Classic! Yeah, gonna watch that instead.

Why I shouldn't watch these things with my mother... )

And one more thing...commercials work, because stupid Guitar Center had a stupid commercial on about how they've got a Fender acoustic (basic cheap model anyway, but still) for a hundred bucks. Plus shipping. I just got paid, and I worked a lot of hours in the past pay period, so it's a pretty good check. HALP HALP DON'T LET ME DO IT! By which I mean...if I do it, don't yell at me too much, 'kay? I mean...I've spent more on fabric.

And effing COLLEGE TEXTBOOKS. I will never get over that. Overpriced much??

Keith Richards: 'Stones Will Tour In 2011'

Thus spake Keef. Now if he can just stay out of trees.

And Ronnie can stay on the wagon for more than five minutes.

And if Mick doesn't get offended by all the things Keith said about him in Life. (Teeny weenie, anyone? *snerk*)

And...no, Charlie can do whatever he wants. Charlie's awesome.

That bastard is 550 pages. I started it at 8pm and finished it around 5am. This means, with work and all, I got three and a half hours' sleep. But like I said, WHO NEEDS SLEEP WHEN THERE IS LIFE TO BE READ?

*represses outpouring of love for Keith's book*

I'll wait til somebody reads it, then harass them forever about it. I'm already harassing my one RL partner-in-crime-with-these-things, M, about reading it. "Dude, it's been out for two whole days." "GO READ IT NOW!!" Says the zombie with the dark circles under her eyes. Yes, that's an excellent recommendation.

Halloween? Oh yeah. Guess those late-nights aren't going anywhere any time soon. Time to start hopping myself up on that wonderful legal drug, caffeine. (Drugs? Keeeeeeef.) Too bad I can't stand coffee.

Also, I felt the need to answer the headline of this article out loud. Who, What, Why: How Is Keith Richards Still Alive? Me: BY BEING AWESOME.

The Book was waiting for me when I got home from work, sitting on my bed. I got home around 7.30, saw The Book, told myself I was not going to even open it. Opened the package, and told myself I was not going to start reading it. Went and made dinner.

And went and got The Book and read it while munching on egg rolls.

It's all gone to hell now, can't put it down.

Sleep? WHO NEEDS SLEEP??

Feeling loads better, though I've still got a cough. Probably helped that I didn't have anything to do this week, so I was able to sit around and do sweet fuck-all for three straight days. Watched lots of Stones things, though...I've got so many DVDs, it's pathetic...this week it was Ladies and Gentlemen (absolutely worth it because you get to see Charlie smile once during one song, tee hee) and all the extras on, ahem, Cocksucker Blues (yes, I've shelled out for that...really enjoyed the extras because of what the Micks tended to be wearing in some of the promos from '73...swear that Jagger was stealing from Bowie's closet, and Taylor looked like such a pretty girl, with this eye makeup and these hats), among other things. Other things like Silence of the Lambs and a marathon of episodes of The Waltons. (Dude, I don't know.)

Haven't worked on Black Diamonds as much as I should, and I know I'm going to be very sorry next week, but oh well. Shit happens. It's difficult to do handwork when your nose is threatening to drip on it every five seconds. I'm just saying.

Got the hairpiece in the mail today. It's pretty much the perfect color (again, whether I can get my own hair to turn precisely that color is another question!), although with slightly less of a curl than I was hoping. It's good enough, though! I was getting a little fidgety. Guess that means I'll be breaking out the hair dye again sometime next week. :D

Blargh.

I has a nasty cold in the head. *sniff snuffle snurf* So does my entire family. I blame them for bringing it home! Just an odds-and-ends sort of post, because I'm too stupid for anything else at the moment.

This gives me glee: Keith Richards is back for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Keeeeeef. Yes, I will absolutely be going to see that movie when it comes out. (Has this franchise been dragged out far too long and are the movies completely ridiculous? Yes. Do I care? No. Do I own the three previous Pirates on DVD? Absolutely. What can I say? Though I will not miss Keira Knightly's whining about her stays. *strangles writers*)

In other Keef-ish news, I'm fidgeting unbearably, counting down the days til Amazon mails me my copy of Life. ...Of course I pre-ordered that. Months ago, actually. I don't care if he was unconscious for two decades and made up everything in the book from 1968-1982. It'll still be entertaining!

And other other news, I got my DVD of Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones today. (Shaddup, it wuz cheap.) Maybe I won't be in a foggy-wog tomorrow mentally, so I can watch it then.

And a What I Wore from a few days ago, before the head cold of doooooom descended full force.

Yes, those are rainbow shoes. If you have not met them before, you should. Absolutely ridiculous, but oh so awesome. The only way they could be better is if they were boots...which they have been mistaken for before. (My response: I WISH! Though this does give me less room to giggle at Bill's hot pink shoes from the R&R Circus...)

Inspired by Anita Pallenberg's style (and, thus by extension, Keith and the rest of the Stones), and generally the late Sixties, in all their ridiculous glory.

OH ALSO, I carved a jack-o-lantern. I haven't done that in years...

End babble!
