(no subject)

Got home from Cairnwood about an hour ago, and was going to get to bed early, but my mum randomly got the final episode of season 2 of Downton for free on her Kindle and happened to be watching Thomas run around in the forest like an ass when I got home, so of course I had to catch the end of that before taking off my eyelashes and such.

The dress? Did get a picture of it, which I'll show you tomorrow because I'm sleepy now. I'm very "meh" about it...I'm really not sure why, when I keep insisting I don't like the 20s, I keep making dresses from them! The beading's not finished, but it was presentable for tonight - and you can't really see it anyway, with the pattern in the fabric!

Like I said...needs moar beads. I'm having second thoughts about beading the whole skirt, though. Not because I'm suddenly less crazy or anything (I LIKE beading! It's easy, if time-consuming), but because I don't really love this dress, so I'm flirting with the idea of selling it (no idea to who...er, whom?) and therefore silly amounts of beads are unnecessary. At any rate I need to finish the beading round the back of the waist!

I hardly took any pictures at Cairnwood (because I suck...it was a bit of an"off" night for me, sorry! I haven't been out in ages so my people-skills have gotten rusty) and the ones I do have I'm making truly horrid faces in, but I'll just have to soldier through and post them anyway.

Mitts

Moving on from the 1920s - I got a Fun Thing in the mail today. danabren knitted me some 18thc mitts, and they're rather fabulous, I must say! I picked out some silken merino wool and she made them for me. I want to wear them allll the time!

(I won't, because the evil hangers at work would destroy them in short order. But they're sitting next to me at the moment so I can pet them!)


And they cover my elbows! Wheee! Now I don't have to make a shift with longer sleeves!

Now I'm going to ruminate on What's Next In The World of Costuming...
