1770s striped jacket
Apr. 10th, 2012 10:41 pmLet me preface this post by saying, I was off work today, so I had a good amount of hours to devote to sewing, which I did! And I didn't get any blood spots on it (yet), though I did stab myself a nice number of times.
So, the striped jacket is, ahem, ready to be tried on to check the fit...I've learned the hard way just to wait to attach the straps on both ends until after I can try it on, because that always needs to be fixed! Easier just to pin than sew, try on, unpick, resew.
And then I still have to fit a sleeve...I plan to use the sleeve of the cranberry gown, but I want it slightly longer, so there shall be futzing.

Blinding stripes, bwahaha!
Of course, all did not go perfectly; the side-back seam had one piece longer than the other, which makes the pleats sit rather wonkily. Well, at least they were both too long, so it's symmetrically wonky. And the stripes don't match on the seam in the peplum, but I knew that was going to happen. Lalalala don't care!
