Well, it wasn't as populated an event as we sort of had the impression it would be, but since there were five of us this time and we have no problem entertaining ourselves anywhere...a good time was had by all, I think! Allaire billed it as "see how they celebrated George Washington's birthday in the early 19th century!" so I told everybody to wear Regency...and then they were all in their usual 1836 costumes. EXCUSE ME, VERY MISLEADING. But we were terribly fashionable, if in the wrong year, so no one minded, haha. Actually I think "Tessa's friends" are starting to get a bit of a reputation... (for being obnoxious, I mean)

Obnoxious? Who, us?? Nevah!

As can be seen, I did not bother finishing the fur-trimmed pelisse, which was a Good Idea. Very balmy for February! Finally decided on my Little White Dress, worn (slightly crammed, really) over my shirt that goes with the pompom outfit (looked dumb, but I really wanted long sleeves that weren't wool! and I didn't take the spencer off at Allaire), and the black wool spencer. Gotta love Regency separates.

I kept trying to pretend it wasn't my birthday, but my friends would insist on giving me things and wishing me happy birthday and I'm so horrible at graciously accepting those things! But I really really appreciate it, so I'll thank you all again here on LJ, because I can be more coherent in writing. (Don't bring up all those ridiculously wordy run-on sentences.)

(Or the ellipses. I do love me some ellipses. *snort*)

Anyway! Pictures!

There were only a couple shots of all the group together...some one is always behind the camera! Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] madamekat and [livejournal.com profile] dragoneyes19 for many of the pictures here...as usual mine are less than wonderful.

Pictures! Words! )

Photobucket album here, and I've done a blog post on some spencer details too

Not finished, mind you, but if the event was tomorrow I'd be fine. Still need closures, trim, and buttons, which I will hopefully get all done tomorrow before work - but it's all put together, no raw edges hanging out or anything!

PS: Is there anybody coming on Saturday that's not on the FB event? I just want to make sure we've got everyone accounted for before we go off jaunting round the historic district!

Clearly the Best Plan when you're already behind sewing schedule is to take the time to pad stitch a collar. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME.

Be amazed. I got up early, and mocked up/fitted the spencer sleeves. Left sleeve is sewn together and partially pinned on; hopefully I can get a good bit of the right one together before bedtime!

Thanks to a snow day (which was totally unexpected, because our store never closes) the body of the spencer is sewn together, and the bottom edge is finished. I'm experimenting with making covered buttons with the rest of my sewing time tonight...cheap Joanns alternatives to actual button forms, woohoo!

The Plan is to do sleeves tomorrow, the collar Weds., and then mess with buttons, trim, and closures on Thurs. and Fri. We'll see how well that holds up!

Took me long enough, yeah?

Only pictures on Mabel as of today, partly because I'll be wearing it in less than a week, and partly because I didn't work today, so I've got Really Bad Day Off Hair.

You do not even want to know how many times I've changed my mind about What To Make for the Feb. Regency outing in the past 24 hours. It's wacky.

(And as for the curtains, well, I got evicted from the sewing room-that-is-also-a-living-room about 3/4 of the way through the first curtain, so I was all too free to indulge my Regency fixation! What a shame.)

1810s pelisse! No, 1820s pelisse! No, 1815 spencer! )

And if I can stop myself from mucking around on the internet, I might even manage to get the skirt panels of the dress cut tonight.
