pocketses

I put away the pattern pieces for that 1930s VV dress today - I realized it's infinitely smarter to allow myself more time to finish up all my Fort Fred bits and pieces. So I thought about all the things I still need, and decided to work on the least important of all of them, the pockets. (I have a perfectly serviceable pocket, as I've mentioned, it's just gotten dingy. And I want a pair!)

Pockets are partially sewn together now; I'm French seaming them because that seemed like a good idea when I started...kind of a weird shape to flat-fell. But I hate French seams even more than flat-felled seams, so there's that. Should finish them tomorrow because, seriously, pockets should not be this extended project. Unless you're the slowest sewer in the world...oh wait.

Thank you to everybody who left nice comments and/or helpful suggestions on my bodice of wrinkles! I really do appreciate it! I'm still going to put it out of my mind for a few more days...maybe I'll try it on again, who knows.

I did cut out a new set of pockets, from the checked linen leftover from Mary's fichu. I've only ever had one pocket, but I've been using it for years and it's looking sad - now I wants a set! And then I can have the added fun of hunting for two pockets instead of just one. Thought half-heartedly about actually starting to sew a pocket together...but it was Hannibal Night, and that is much more important. That show makes me all flail-y every episode, and it's great.
