My mother just pointed out to me an article about this exhibit that was in the paper a few days ago: Fashion in Film: Period Costumes for the Screen. And said to me, "But you won't want to go, will you; they're just movie costumes?" UM YES I WANT TO GO!

Especially because the article in the newspaper mentions "a 1912 red number worn in Titanic" - if there is even the smallest possibility that that's referring to the red dress I think it is, there is no way I'm missing this exhibit!

Just thought I'd point it out to my f-list in case anyone was interested, though I know not many of you are in this area!

(Also, a clear sign I have been on LJ for far too long: I've reorganized my tags and things, which took forever, and still hardly anybody's posted anything! I think I ought to go to bed...)

Hee, thanks - and it is true, isn't it, that "plot" should be in quotation marks for some of those movies! And I watch them anyway, because I am a Costume Whore. XD

I've been meaning to post, but it's taking so long to type out everything that's happened in the past few days and I'm terribly lazy...

My consolation for not seeing this exhibit is the fact that I get to go play with original period garments tomorrow and for the next two months.

Well, I'd say that's pretty decent consolation! ;) And at least we got to see a very good exhibit at the Met!

It's a FANTASTIC show! I may be wrong but I don't think that red/black beaded Titanic dress is in it but so many other amazing things. Before you go call and see if they allow photography, some of the venues did and if not bring your sketch book. ;)

Poo. Ah well - I'm sure it'll be a great show anyhow - I seem to be getting enthusiastic responses about the exhibit! ;)

And that's a good idea, to call and see if they allow photography before I go!

It's not the jump dress (sadly) - it's an extra's dress!

I've seen the exhibit twice in other places though and it's well worth seeing. They do have the Breathe dress from Ever After, and my fav blue/green dress from Elizabeth and the wedding gown from S&S and lots of other great stuff!

I still want to try to see the exhibit in Allentown (and I'm crossing my fingers that they actually allow photography since it varies by museum) - but I won't be able to til July.

It would be fun to meet up there, though!

Here is what is at the exhibit:

Damn - getting my hopes up like that, stupid newspaper, is unkind! ;) All the rest of it seems as though it'll be active compensation for that, though!

I'm probably going to end up going in the next week or so, since I'll be busy most of July...which is too bad, as it would be really cool to meet up! :P

Oh well, another time! Enjoy though! And let me know if they allow photos. And if they do, take lots!

Serious costume pr0n!! XD I hope you get to go - it looks great!

And looking back, I realize it was actually mentioned on the Mid-Atlantic costume event community (midatlancostume), but of course I didn't notice, duhh. I like that comm, even though I haven't actually been able to make it to any of the events anybody posts there! -Actually that's where I saw the Belvidere Victorian weekend, which is what plunged me into this 1870s madness...
