Got lots of sewing done today- yay! I'm taking advantage of my last free week for a loooong time- or at least it feels that way! Move-in day for school's this Sunday, and classes start Tuesday. And funnily enough, I don't like any of my classes this semester. Ah well.
Today I finished sewing the doublet together, with the unfortunately-unavoidable handwork. Sometimes I really enjoy hand sewing and sometimes I don't; today is one of the "don't" days. Somewhere along the line, I decided it would be Really Awesome if the doublet had a skirt attached. So I just barely managed to scrape enough fabric together to make a gored skirt. It's not quite long enough, but I'll add a guard of some other fabric and that'll provide a way of sneakily getting out of hand sewing the hem. Then I sewed about a million hooks to one side of the doublet front, sewed 2 eyes on the other side, and decided I'd Had Enough. One can only sew so many hooks and eyes before one's senses revolt. And I did all this handwork while watching Elizabeth I: The Virgin Queen. Errrm, again. Well, in my defense, it's not mine, it's only borrowed from the library so I have to watch it while I can. And it's an excellent movie. Okay, okay, I give in; add it to the christmas list!
In other news, it's still cold and rainy. 3 days in a row of rain. I like rain as much as the next seamstress, but it does get a bit wearing after a while.
