...on the pet en l'air. Not much, but some. All I got around to was leveling and sewing the hem. For some reason, it took me forever to hem the thing. Maybe because it doesn't seem like there's that much fabric, as it's all hiding in the pleats at the top...but when I got to the hem, I realized just how much fabric was pleated back there! Gah.

Now, on to figuring out what the heck I'm going to do for the stomacher... I hardly have any fabric left at all (when I'm all done, I'll take a picture of the amount of fabric left over!), so we'll see. I might possibly have enough left to make the tabs that fasten in front, like on the original, but it's no big deal if I don't; I know I have some ivory shantung that would match if I decide I donwanna do any more piecing though then I'd actually have to find said shantung, which might be a problem in and of itself.

::sorry, mini political content!:: Also, if I have to sit through one more dinner in which I have to hear about The Evil of President Obama and the Muslims, I'm going to scream. I hope gay marriage passes in NJ so Certain People I Live With's uber-conservative and intolerant heads go all asplodey.

At least you have some progress. I haven't worked on my corset at all this week (garage sale) and it is making me CRAZY.

Speaking of which, having a garage sale with a bunch of old republicans who don't like Obama (aka my nana and her friends) is also driving me nuts. I wish same sex marriage was on the ballot for MI too.

Eek; a lack of sewing plus a bunch of old republicans is enough to drive anyone crazy! ;) And it's the worst when it's people you really can't voice any dissenting political opinions with because they're either 1)older and therefore "wiser" - the type of people I've been taught not to disagree with, or 2) so old and cranky that they wouldn't be able to have a reasonable conversation with someone who disagreed with them politically.

Or...some combination of both. *sigh* If gay marriage passes here, I will never, NEVER hear the end of it. Because, ohnoes, I voted Democrat in the primaries this week, so CLEARLY I am responsible for this CALAMITY. *headdesk* Well actually, up at school, I did sign a petition to the governor to support gay marriage...but my parents don't know that. Heh.

*shakes head* I know; I recall reading all that about Prop 8, and was all, WTF, California? Isn't the state supposed to be all progressive and liberal? (Hee, this from a girl born and bred in the practically eternally-blue northeastern state of NJ!) Hmf. Well, we can hope - and vote - and sign petitions to the governor to legalize gay marriage (I signed one up at school, and I'm pretty sure I'd practically be thrown out of the house if my parents knew)!

At least I can vent to most of my friends (and certain friends on LJ!), because my family is a bastion of Conservative Christian Family Values, and it drives me mad. XD
