So far this weekend...I didn't actually finish everything I said I was going to, but I did sew something I forgot that I needed, so overall a win.
- Finally got around to making the stupid little self-fabric loops for the drop-front ties. They're not 100% necessary with the "sticky" cotton, but I've always put them on drop front dresses so I feel more secure that the ties won't go rogue when they're contained in loops!
- Mocked up, cut out, and started sewing the chemisette. New chemisette patterns are always working mockups for the first version, and you don't find out whether they really work til you've worn them under a dress all day! I cut this one almost directly from the bodice pattern so the shoulders are a bit of a stupid shape, but it doesn't matter with a dress this high-necked! Revisions may be made for a lower-necked dress.
- Put all the gear on to check the fit - I don't like to be surprised on the morning-of! - including shift, stays, petticoat, and - oh, hey, look, I never hemmed the new petticoat, because I didn't want to hem it too long for whatever dress I was making! Good thought, but definitely time to hem. So, did that after checking the dress fit over everything. Looks pretty good! Nothing weird and stupid going on, as far as I can tell.
- Looks like I won't need to worry about being chilly at our picnic...forecast is currently at 90 for Saturday. Yaaay. Think I'll pick up a case of water bottles at some point this week...
- Still need to do: dress cuffs and finish chemisette. I'll have Thursday evening and all of Friday, so I'm totally fine, time-wise! (10 bucks says I'm still last-minute sewing at 11:30pm on Friday night, but, you know. It's been too long since I last-minutes sewed for an event, haha!)
