Because all the cool kids are doing it.
1. Five-eighths, one-half or three-eighths?
Whatever the width of my presser foot is!
2. Linen, cotton, wool or silk?
Cotton’s cheap and easy to find, so cotton, I guess. But silk is so fun to pet...
3. Stripes, solids or prints?
Stripes stripes stripes! Unless it’s changeable taffeta.
4. Drape or draft?
A weird combination of drafting the approximation of the measurements I want, then draping that to fit on me- I haven’t got a dummy yet, so many bizarre contortions are then in order.
5. Pins or weights?
Pins. Unless I can avoid them.
6. Nipper or seam ripper?
Seam ripper. What’s a nipper...sounds like the name of a small yappy ankle-biting dog.
7. Pleats or ruffles?
Pleats, even though I hate cartridge pleating.
8. Wheel or scissors?
Scissors; less dangerous for me.
9. Princess seams or darts?
I hate marking darts, so princess seams by default.
10. Flat-line or bag-line?
Flat lining- no contest. My bag linings have never matched and so I hate them.
11. Serge or French seam?
French seam; sergers are big scary machines to be avoided.
12. Invisible or original sliding?
Invisible, but I only put zippers in under protest, and always put it in wrong at least once. That’s what happens when you never actually learn to sew modern clothing.
13. Hooks & eyes or lacings?
Usually lacings, unless it would really ruin the look. I hate hand bound eyelets but make them all the time. I’m odd like that.
14. Corset for comfort, or corset for look? (And no, you can’t claim both.) Look. I’d rather be pretty than comfortable (in my costumes anyway!), but both my corsets are actually pretty comfortable.
15. Bind, pipe or face?
Bind. I’ve never piped (should learn that), and facings suck, especially when they’re in a pattern and they mysteriously Don’t Match the Dress. Why I rarely use commercial patterns...
