Dinner dress bodice
Aug. 22nd, 2018 02:08 pmProgress: Looks pretty much the same as last post, but I covered/boned all the seams excepting the darts, and tried the whole thing on again today to make sure nothing had gone completely bonkers. The darts are just a HAIR uneven which makes the CF black stripe bow out juuuuust a sliver more on one side, but it's not worth the trauma to the silk to unpick and resew. I can live with it!
The neckline ended up maybe a leeeeetle lower than is entirely respectable for a young unmarried lady (*guffaws*) but I did want the bodice itself to be lower as the lace at the neckline will fill it in some, so I think it's fine. It just feels a bit saucy at the moment!
The goal for this week is to get the dinner bodice at least 90% done, so I can have next week to work on the tea gown. There's still one more week after that before Belvidere, but I'll be in school that week so I don't want to count on having any sewing time! I ordered some red paper roses to put on the swags on the dinner dress underskirt and at the CF of the bodice - both from China and from California; the ones I like more are from China but I didn't want to count on them getting here in time, so ordered backup smaller roses too!.
And (note to self) if I want silk satin ribbon to thread through the lace on my chemise/make a bow to go on the dinner dress bodice/trim the tea gown with/whatever else I think I want it for, I have to order that tonight.
