Dec. 19th, 2016 12:22 amI broke my "not going to do anything costume-related til after the Praxis" resolution and cut out (most of) the pieces for my turn-of-the-century corset tonight. I've been very good with studying every day, but I'd reached my limit for today and was kind of bored, haha! I did run out of drill so I have to pick up some more from work tomorrow.
sewloud prodded me toward a more interestingly-colored corset so I went with the hot pink silk I bought in the FabricMart sale a few months back. It's shantung (not satin, as most of the silk corsets from the time seem to be), but 1/ I only have a couple pieces of spare satin hanging around and they're boringly colored, and 2/ I don't really care. xD Inspired by the pink 1890s corset in the V&A, and I do want to pick up some nice black lace for the top edge sooner or later since I think that looks very smart!
