Got up off my duff and took pictures of my Romantic underwear today before work, and just now got a blog post written on it. I'll just link to it here since I've already talked about most of the finer points here, if not all together in one post.

Everything is so white...xD (And I did adjust the contrast on some of the pictures! Couldn't be arsed to do them all though. Too much work!)

Actually they have ties on the top, that match ties in the armhole of the dress, so they just get shoved into the sleeve of the dress and tied. I just pinned them on my shift sleeves for the picture.

Do you have an estimate of the size of the pieces that went into your sleeve puffs? I'm about to start mine and since yours look so good, I thought I'd see if you could give me a starting point.

Oh man these are SO unscientifically made, hahaha! The inner part of the puffer is basically a very short little sleeve, and then I gathered a bigger rectangle down a bunch, and trimmed the corners off to fit under the arm. I just measured one, though, and the outside is about 28" around, and 10" at its widest. Hope that's not entirely unhelpful!

I love these underthings! Something about corded petticoats...they make me giddy.

Thank you! I find corded petticoats so annoying to make, but they really do their job.

For such little things, the stupid puffers were fairly annoying, I will say! They're kinda unavoidable if you want to be legit, though. If you don't care, I will say that joann's petticoat net is EXCELLENT for wadding up and shoving in sleeves... xD

Thanks! 1830s is such a weird mix of Regency and early Victorian construction and style, I can't help but be intrigued by it. Plus...well, it's so inelegant, but such a lot of fun to wear!
