Apron done! And I got my dress fabric in the mail today, and it's quite a nice wool for what I paid! Very pleased. It's a dark navy that almost reads as black...except, of course, when I put it next to my black shoes, stockings, and the velvet ribbon in my cap! Oh well...shut up. ;) I still think navy might be a legit color for a domestic's dress. Or...we're in America, baby, the rules don't apply here!
...or something. Anyway.
I fully intend to whine about the hot sewing room every day I'm in it this week. Because it's damn hot! And I got to choose between a slightly hotter, close room with a shut window, or an open one with a tiny, heavily garbage-scented breeze. Lovely.
Apron's made from a cotton muslin remnant (the nice muslin at Joann's, mind you, not the terminally off-grain stuff) that I will definitely need to starch. Oooh, adventures in starching, that'll be fun. I think putting it on Mabel over my stays adds a nice touch...but I hate lacing her back into them, so I won't take them off once they're on unless I really need to!

The lace is a little cheesier than I'd usually go for, as it's one of those polyester on-a-spool numbers, but for something I intend to wear once, I didn't want to waste any of my nice lace! It looks fine from a couple feet away, I think.
