I got feedback to confirm that an under-bodice/waistcoat is perfectly period (hooray!), so I'm forging ahead on said waistcoat. I cut all the linen, and the front silk piece...only had to piece that in two places! My blue thread matches the blue stripe pretty well, so as long as I only piece on the blue stripes I'm all set. (I've got an offer of spare silk from someone else who bought it if I really get stuck!)

I sewed the side-backs to the backs, and have started eyelets for the back lacing. Won't sew the backs to the front til after I try it on with the lacing; if I do I'll inevitably need to pick it out and redo it.
