Still! But I'm in a hat-making kind of mood, which is convenient as I need a hat.
I read everybody's mainly enthusiastic comments about the Obnoxious Purple today, but I'd already made up my mind against it. Obnoxious Purple and I had a chat, and we agreed it'd be put to better use for an 1860s spoon bonnet. (What, doesn't everyone chat with their fabric? Um.) Conveniently I was thinking of making another one of those this year, so the fabric won't languish in obscurity for years. Probably.
So anyway, I decided on the dark navy dupioni I used for K Parr's kirtle. It's got a moderate amount of slubs, but it's not too terribly awful...partly because it's so dark you can't see them much! Whatever works. I figured it would work the best with what I have for trimmings (pink and cream silk scraps), and won't clash with the black gauze I want to use for a veil.

Hat innards are attractive! Heh. It ended up a little smaller than I thought it would, and I did have a couple minutes of the "does this perch adorably or idiotically" debate, but after bending it around a bit, it fell on the side of adorably. We hope.
