Again, I only sewed a little bit on the forepart today, but I was very productive in my 1920s distraction. Something shiny? *wanders off and follows it*

See? Shiiiiny!


Finished the slip apart from the hem - it is very exciting.


I read American Duchess' blog post about a 1920s slip, read jenthompson's posts about her 20s dresses, and figured that was enough research, and it was time to start cutting. Stupidly easy pattern, the wider bits at the hip just get gathered up. The long seams are machine sewn (and flat felled, because endless fluffy bits), and the finishings are messily hand-done. It fastens at the left side with snaps.


Okay, let's move on to fun things! This is a stupidly simple dress - it's literally two rectangles sewn together at the shoulders, and joined by a strip at the bust and a tie at the waist. The tie at the waist hasn't yet materialized...nor have the long, long black tulle sleeves. And a panel of the sequined net on the sides of the slip.




I think I can finish it tomorrow, yes? ;)
