Jun. 25th, 2014 12:23 amAs of this afternoon, I've flat-felled all the seams on the farthingale - now I need to baste the pieces together at the hem, and then I get to dig the velveteen out of the scrap bin for the boning casings. I hope there's enough...I have black cotton velvet in the stash as well, but I'd really rather not cut into it for boning casings. It's nicer than that! Said boning is in the mail - reed for both the farthingale and kirtle bodice - along with gold trim for the kirtle bodice edge and veil upper billiments, and gold silk organza for that gold pleated bit at the front edge of the cap. Not all from the same place, though.
An update on gown and forepart/undersleeve fabrics: I've had the red and gold damask picked out for a while(as long as it doesn't sell out!), but I am SO incredibly picky about the gown fabric. I found a very good and reasonably priced damask, but there are only 2.2 yards of it in all of the internet world, bummer. My other, slightly more expensive choice was all sold out when I checked it again two days ago. Whoops. I wasn't thrilled with it, anyway. I've found yet another damask I like much better, but it's much more expensive! I'm probably going to buy it, which will make it the most expensive fabric, per yard, that I've bought yet. It also may mean curtailing costume activities for the rest of the summer...which is a bummer, but that's how committed I am to this dress!

(And I've got a swatch, and it *is* nice fabric.)
