Look, an update!

Contrary to probable popular opinion, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth...my parents finally Saw the Light and got Verizon. Not dial-up any more! *does happy dance* Much less of a PITA to work with.
Anyway, I have been sewing, in between my mad rereading (for the billionth time) of the Harry Potter series in preparation for the 7th book's release. Very excited, I am. But there won't be any pictures of anything for a while because Someone left the digital camera in our grandma's car on the 4th of July and we haven't got it back yet. Now, I ask you, what nincompoop wants to take pictures of fireworks? In the rain, no less? *sigh*
And I was so gorgeous at the Bastille Day at the Eastern State Penitentiary on Saturday! :) It said on the web site the the public was encouraged to come in costume, and my mom and sister wanted to go, so I said Heck yes! I went through a two-day period of insanity where I thought I could fix my stays and make a new anglaise by Saturday afternoon. Now, we decided to go to this thing on Saturday on Wednesday night. I had work from 9-3 on Thursday and Friday, and I had a friend's birthday party to go to Friday night from 7-12. Ummm...insanity, yeah. I, needless to say, didn't have a new dress, and the stays still aren't finished, but I wore them anyway. ( I decided to recover them since the crappy green taffeta was getting older and crappier, and bad things were happening around the seam areas.) Wore my plain old blue cotton polonaise and my Extremely Awesome new covered straw hat. It's awesome; I'll take pictures of it if we ever get the camera back. It's got all these over-the-top peacock feathers on it.
Of course, about 8 people in the crowd of hundreds were dressed up. That's ok, as I won a bottle of wine in the "costume competition" they had (okay, so did all the other dressed-up people, but whatever!) (Yes, I am very underage. Well, not very, just by a year and a half. I made my mom carry the bottle.;)
