You don't need to kick me, I worked on the dress

But I've found a new thing to hate - flounces. Right now, speaking in a slightly hyperbolic fashion, they are THE WORST. I spent far too much time today on one flounce! Hours and hours. I wish I wasn't so set on this fashion plate...Well, if I can get one flounce done a day, on the days I don't have work, I should still be in good shape to have this finished in time.

First, the derpy hat. That bow... But hey, plaid!


I ended up tacking the lace up a bit more; the ones in the fashion plate don't have it tacked up, but I couldn't in good conscience wear it like that! I go out in public in a lot of stupid-looking things, but I draw the line there. I briefly considered sticking a bit of trimming on (flowers or berries or some crap), but the dress is so marshmallow-y, I think it needs a fairly plain hat to balance it out.

And the awful flounce.


I think it probably looked more impressive before I gathered it up onto the skirt.

Twelve-yard-long flounces shouldn't be allowed!

Robin and Alice and I are going to Fort Mifflin's Civil War Saturday on the 20th; it's not a very big event or anything, we all just wanted sheer dresses! Obviously you're invited! Dressed or not. ;)
