And it's weird. I never used to be like that. Good thing, though!
In short, sleevils!
I sewed the other sleeve together, and sewed the bottom half to the bodice, so I could pin the top halves on to the strap to fit, in the proper 18thc sleeve-setting-manner. And they are somehow much too tight. Like, cutting-off-circulation-tight, not just a-little-uncomfortable-but-I-can-live-with-it-tight. Very mysterious, since I've made these sleeves before, put them on multiple dresses, but okay. Some wriggling determined that the problem was in the back of the sleeve head (probably).
So I unpicked them, and have cut little bits of linen to piece into the back of the sleeve, which I'm really hoping works. (After the sleevils, I decided to take a breather and finish the hem and the fronts of the skirts instead of more sleevils.) Will try it tomorrow.
And if all else fails...the chemise dress is a new dress anyway, isn't it? :)
