Finally.
And they are...well, done. Feeling very "meh" about the hat in particular, but I don't actively dislike it, so unless some genius idea strikes me, I'm leaving it as-is.
First, shoes:

They're pretty glue-tastic - I think they're more glue than shoe at this point. And the taffeta got wrinkly in some spots...but they're just play shoes, so I can live with it!
Oh, and inspired by these shoes from the Met, dated c1780-99.

And then...the hat.

And the-hat-on-the-floor shot.

MEH.
What it really needs are plumes instead of drabs, but everything had to come from the stash, and I don't have any plumes. :P

Date: 2013-05-25 01:49 pm (UTC)The hat has a great shape, and looks flattering on you which is half the battle! I think it's the trim you're stumbling on, the flowers and feathers are more dainty sized and get lost in that big shape. I think Kat's suggestion of ribbon (or self fabric) is spot on. You can do all sorts of loops and bows more in proportion to that hat. If I don't have a wide ribbon in the color I want in the stash I use taffeta and it works great.
