Bastille Day pictures!

(I don't know about any of you, but I'm always astounded when I actually manage to post pictoral content...)
So without further ado...pictures!

So without further ado...pictures!
The majority of these pictures I must give credit to my darling friend Carolyn (the one in the pink) for taking, because she's got a better camera and much more picture-taking mojo than I. The completely random ones, or ones of odd thing, though, I can safely take the credit (or blame...) for!

Like this one of my feet. I dunno. But hey, if the shoes look even okay (which is all I will give them), more credit must be given where due, yet again, to
bauhausfrau and her wonderful instructions!

Me= Teh Sexxeh. Garters! (And I managed to lose one in the course of the day. Where, or when, I do not know!)

Yeah, I dunno what the heck I was doing in either of these pics, but figured my skirt looked cool, so in they went!

I really had this weird Thing with taking pictures of my shoes...

I know, I know...but the dresses were just too much fun to spin in! Couldn't resist the temptation. And there's the requisite "check out mah butt!" picture. You may have noticed by this point that I decided to not wear my frock in a polonaise...I figured that, as the other two already had polonaises, we did not need to be a Polonaise Promenade.
That was all the picnic in the park...and running around the park....and twirling around the park...well, you get the picture. Then we went over to the Eastern State Penitentiary in Philly, where they were having a whole Bastille Day thing, there was a costume contest, and we all won tickets to see Spamalot. In Philly, but still. Free things are good.

The Penitentiary- it was built in the early 1800s, and is pretty neat-looking. They do a really scary haunted house there at Halloween! And texting is very 18th-century.

I realize that was kind of a CRAPload of pictures, but I know I always like to see when people have fun at events and post lots of pretty pictures, so I figured, eh, I might as well put them up! (It's not like I go to a lot of events, so I guess I feel I have to make up for it in volume of pictures when I do go to something!)
And out of all the people who took our picture (and yeah, there were a lot! But I don't mind; if I did, I wouldn't walk round in public places dressed like that!), there was only one who gave us a website where he would post the pics. Here. I look awfully goofy in the last one, but eh.

Date: 2008-07-19 04:50 pm (UTC)(Wal-Mart ribbon, actually...I don't know if you can tell in the pictures, but it's green and red changeable. Sounds awful, but I love it! It was gift wrap ribbon, I swear, with wired edges and all, just took the wire out and voila! Theater costuming does teach me some useful things; amazing!)

Date: 2009-02-27 08:14 pm (UTC)The Eastern State Pen brings back pleasant memories--in the fall of 2003, I had a TV course in which my group did a small segment on the pen (long before they started charging students to film there). I learned a lot about the Pen, and even got to go places where the public isn't permitted (like the top turret, really cool!) I saw it on TV, where they ambushed some lady for What not to Wear, and it looks like they've restored a lot more of the prison. I took loads of arty and photojournalistic photos for classes that fall. I haven't been there since, but would really like to go again!
Thanks for bringing back some pleasant memories!

Date: 2009-03-01 08:05 pm (UTC)And you DEFINITELY ought to come this July (in a chemise a la reine, of course! :D)...especially as I will definitely be there, with my small group of chosen victims...er, friends who also like to play dress-up.
