Not as productive in sewing today - I did a lot of bouncing around from project to project, which I'll blame on running completely out of muslin. So I couldn't finish the 19-teens petticoat I started (got it cut out, though!) or start anything related to the brown & bronze 1876 dress (which I'm going to call the Autumn Dress).

I did take pictures of the teens corset, though! I tried it on so I could take meaurements for the petticoat (my waist's an inch bigger but hips are an inch smaller, whaddya know), and I realized that if I put a hook & eye on, it would indeed make the line smoother, but I'd also have serious problems sitting down! So no hooks and eyes, because driving's going to be bad enough in this thing, I don't need to make it any more difficult...

And in the interests of full disclosure, you get a shot of the inside, in all its dubious fraying mismatched glory! Also delightfully off-centered in the photo.

The bones at the back stop a couple inches shy of the bottom, so the last two eyelets wrinkle a bit. Because I didn't have any cable ties quite long enough, and was too lazy to go out to get more. Hooray lazy costuming! At least I did finally buy a spool of real corset lacing...

And I apparently couldn't lace up evenly today. Oops. Well, in my defence, I had it on for about an hour before taking pictures, sitting on the floor and cutting out the pieces to the petticoat! Should probably have fixed the lacing after doing all that, but didn't, oh well. At least that means it's actually fairly comfortable?

And yes, the lacing gap's a bit large, but I've finally figured out that corsets do stretch a bit with wear - and managed to draft that into the mockup - so there it is. Give it a few wearings, it'll lace tighter. I didn't lace with the "handles" at the waist, because I don't want any wast reduction. Hooray teens corsetry! Just makes it a bit more difficult to sit.

Note to self: make your life easier and remember to put your shoes on before the corset.
