Pumpkin Tea!

Because now I'm friends with The Cool People and get to go to these things. *happy wriggle* Drove down to VA with Robin, Kat, and Jess for sadievale's Pumpkin Tea this weekend. Many many thanks to her and her mom for having us all! There was good company and lots of good food...also a lot of costume scheming! More on that in a little bit...

And this was about my feelings towards my own outfit:

Though the hat was great fun to wear and a perfect fall-ish color (thanks to dragoneyes19 for having good headwear to spare!). I think I look a bit twerpy and, oh, unfinished, but other people seemed to actually like it, so.

(As usual I liked everybody else's outfit far better than my own. There were quite a few new frocks, and everyone looked great!)

Also it did turn out to be actually weather-appropriate - quite warm this weekend! I'd have had to take the spencer off for most of the afternoon if I'd had it, anyway.

I may end up leaving the pompoms off the hem, as Robin may be giving me her leftovers from her deliciously obnoxious plaid silk dress so I can make another spencer to wear with this dress (and then we can be matchy-matchy together, which we would find hilarious). And I don't think I'd like pompoms AND plaid. Dunno. We'll see. Probably should make Spencer Number One first, anyway.



And Gloria/quincy134 got a few more shots of my dress, where I'm not making dumb faces...

No, I don't know what it is about running down hills and lawns in costume, I just think it's too much fun!

I thought you looked great! A jumper dresses with matching spencer is on my list too, I think it's such a fun style and one that isn't reproduced enough.

I felt much better about not getting my Spencer done too when I realized how nice the weather was. I would have died in it! Maybe next year yay?

Thanks! :) I've really come around to liking the jumper style - I think it's one that would look good on everybody, and you don't see it a whole lot. Yet. (I bet if you make one, we'll see some more popping up, hehe!) Yes, spencers for next year! I doubt we'll be so lucky with the weather two years in a row!

I love these pics and write ups when you have your days out! I always looks for the shoes shot - there are some very pretty shoes there.

Like Robin said, we're behind the velvet ropes...and you can't get rid of us now! ;) So much fun - that's seriously going to be one of the highlights of my costuming year! Between the food, the dresses, and the company...very cool indeed.
