Petticoat progress

I.e., finished. I thought it was finished after I hemmed it last night, but decided it needed to go up another 1/4". So I did that tonight (along with sewing approximately three inches of the shift), and, done!

And I only ironed it very halfheartedly, as you can tell! I'll have to iron it again anyway the day before faire, why bother now...

Looks pretty much like you'd expect an orange silk taffeta petticoat to look, no? (And note the very 16thc appropriate Small Faces t-shirt.)



I got more of my fabric fun today (not the duck I need for new effigy stays, naturally); white linen for the shift, and the red silk for the Titanic exhibit dress, which I'll post more about my plans for tomorrow.

Very pretty petticoat! I never realised that the Small Faces had a fanbase back in the 16th century, but the was forgetting their hit Much ado About All or Nothing! ;op

That colour is delicious! Is it a specially-shaped petticoat, or a normal sort of round one?

Thanks! It's just a big rectangle (39x120...approximately) cartridge-pleated to a waistband. Easy-peasy! Worn over a corded petticoat and a regular one. (I can't think offhand of any evidence of corded petticoats in the 16thc, but I don't care, because it's very good at fluffing skirts!)

Thanks! Yeah, I always like to go that extra mile to make sure it's a period-appropriate t-shirt when I'm modeling costume bits! ;)
