Costume jewelry, compliments of Boscovs

mandie_rwWent with my mum to the mall today, since she was taking my grandma to get a new watch, and my grandma likes to see me, since I'm not living home any more. (For the moment.) Her favorite store is Boscovs, so off we went to the jewelry section, fine and otherwise.
(Found the exact same style of a certain necklace the store I work for sells - we separate the earrings and necklace, and sell the earrings for $3 and the necklace for $15. Boscovs has the set for $7.99. Hah!)
While my mum was trying to help my grandma decide whether she wanted to spend $19.99 on a watch ("Watches are so expensive! I used to buy my watches for less than $10!"), I poked around the sale section, and hit pay dirt when I came across a spinner of 1928 jewelry for $4.99 apiece.
Well actually they're not all that sparkly. I could have come home with a lot more, but restrained myself pretty well.
First, a barrette and a pin (which isn't from Boscovs; it's from my store but I forgot to post it before. I saw it on a headband in the $2 bin. Me: "Does this come off? It's a pin? Score! Not excellent quality but it's $2!" We don't get much in that I can use for costuming, it's all modern and ass-ugly!)
Pearl bead necklace and earrings that will do for 16th century (on the off chance I do something 16thc that is fancy enough for this jewelry...)
And "jet", in case I ever use that black silk I've got for its original purpose - a bustle gown! (Think I may have used too many yards of it by now...) The earrings and necklace are just your typical plastic beads, but the beads on the bracelets are actually glass and look quite decent.
And now I need to go sew something, because, hello! Bastille Day's next Saturday!
