Stays progress

Eyelets are finished, hooray! Well, except the ones on the straps, but they don't really count. Now on to the binding, which I made tonight from the same ivory linen as the lining, and hopefully made enough of tonight. I hate when I haven't made enough binding... I mean, what, I love ironing my fingers while making binding, who doesn't?!

And I watched Pride and Prejudice while eyelet-making (as you do. I often put on long movies while doing marathon hand-sewing...think Lord of the Rings may go on when I do the binding! And I have the extended editions, so I should be set for that!), which was dangerous, because it always makes me want an entire Regency wardrobe! Depending on how quickly my ribbons and voile ship, I may have some time to indulge myself with that, but we'll have to see.

Binding

Be proud of me, people; I finally unpacked my last bag from Dress U today (it was in the trunk of my car til yesterday) and washed my shifts and chemises! It's only been how many weeks?

I hate binding stays. I always forget that part, in the "yay, new stays!" mindset I get into, but the binding's the worst part! Yes, worse than eyelets, to me. Ugh. Worked on it for hours today, and this is where we are right now:



Two movies (The Duchess and Sleepy Hollow) and an album's worth of work in there, and yes, it's just the front of the tabs bound. Binding the tabs has been even more fun than usual, as this is the first pair of stays I've made since getting Costume Close-Up, where I learned that the binding on stays wasn't cut on the bias, but on the straight grain. Hm, yes, okay, we'll give that a try, sounds like FUN.

Because I don't puncture my poor fingers enough when putting on bias binding, right?
