I want candy sack gown
Sep. 27th, 2011 01:39 amWe're moving along nicely with the project, since I'm already at the WHY IS EVERYTHING SO AWFUL stage! I spent half the day sewing along merrily, then spent the second half not-so-merrily ripping out and resewing. Primarily because I noticed this:

Ahh...there is something distinctly not right about this! Ohhhh. I forgot to put in that third pleat that goes underneath the others. Brain daaaaamaged! Fffffffff. Unpick entire back, repleat, resew. Try dress on, realize the pleats in the back are sewn too far down. And this is all hand sewing, mostly because I haven't figured out how to drape a sack on Mabel in a way that allows me to machine-sew it easily. This makes it easy to rip stitches out, but far more heart-breaking. And now I have to do it again?! PUT DRESS DOWN AND BACK AWAY SLOWLY.
So i ate some fudge, read some Lovecraft, and then decided to work on the petticoat trim instead. That still needs to be done, right? The CiD sketch's dress has a flounce on the petticoat, and when in doubt for petticoat trim, I default to flounces, so a flounce it is! With stripes running horizontally, because, why not? And only on the front half of the petticoat, because I really don't think I'll be wearing this with anything that's not its matching gown, where you'll see the back!

The flounce is, as of yet, only pinned, because I decided I wanted to hand sew it on (the gathers are not hand sewn!), but didn't want to do that tonight. So there, flounce. *sticks out tongue*
And one more thing: I bought (another) scarf on ebay, this one to stick on my wall, because it's got a pretty print of baroque ladies and gentlemen on it, and I got it today. Not bad for a dollar! Plus shipping.
