Well. Despite my day of only partly-productive sewing, I still had every intention of finishing and wearing the I Want Candy sack. But now? I'm waffling!

[livejournal.com profile] madamekat brought the weather forecast to my attention (forecast: Not Warm. At All), and [livejournal.com profile] blackcat452 might be wearing her green quilted petticoat. So. Hm. Do I want to dress down instead? In something slightly warmer than candy-pink silk? I think I might.

GAHHH I AM SO INDECISIVE! Which I do not have time for, hello; the event's Saturday! *smacks self*

I'll report back tomorrow with the decision!

:-D

Quilted silk petticoats with lots of embroidery are fun!

With sack gowns....

With ruffles....

*hopefully not helping*

Oh! A bright red cardinal cloaks!

Bwahaha! You know, I like the way you think! Now I want a quilted petticoat! Maybe two: one to wear over hoops, one not. Hmmm... And I do have red wool for a cardinal cloak!

...Probably not for an event in three days though. xD

I used pre-quilted material -with backing already attached- to make my orange petticoat. Took about 20 minutes. (Rectangle for the front, rectangle for the back. Pleat. Sew on waistband after cutting out excess quilting stuffing.)

If nothing else, a quick petticoat like that is great to wear under a skirt for warmth. Mine worked very well in January.

Oh, that prequilted stuff is a good idea! If I don't have time for this weekend, I think I'll make one for Harpers Ferry for under the hoops!

I'm actually thinking of bringing a change of clothes. Since we intend (I think... I hope!) to continue on to Grumblethorpe for the Octoberfest in the late afternoon, I'd like something more comfortable than my francaise, which I admit is a wee on the tight side these days, so I think for the evening, I'll change into my riding habit jacket. I'll have to get over the fact that my cloak sort of clashes (teal and bright red...ahhhh!).

Weather forecast has improved slightly. Now we see a high of 59.

I always tell myself that obnoxious color combinations are totally period - there are enough dubious-looking fashion plates, I'm sure someone combined teal and bright red and deemed it fabulous!

And I've decided to chuck the silk sack for now - I had a wool English gown already cut out, so I'll try to finsih that in time!

Yes, we did meet - I do remember you as the Girl That's Not Bob! I'm excited for Saturday; all the opportunities for dress-up lately have been falling through for me, and I need a fix! ;) And of course I don't mind - added you back.

What a life, right? ;) And thank you! It's such pretty fabric - I'm glad I caved to the impulse buy and got it!

Was it you that was working on a wool dress before?, or maybe you can do what I'm doing and wear sweatpants or something warm underneath. And I think the brown and green is the winner, with a bright red cape!

Possibly - I actually do have a wool English gown that I started a year ago, and after dragging it out, decided I'm going to go with that for Saturday. Fancy silk is awesome - being warm is awesomer!

And sweatpants underneath, that's a good idea...I have red wool in the Stash, someday I'll make my very own cardinal cloak! Depending on how many winter things go on around here, that might be sooner than later...hmmm.
