Guess who scored the second-last ticket to the Gettysburg Remembrance Day Ball in November? That would be me, thanks very mush. It's totally a spur-of-the-moment thing...basically reine_de_coudre mentioned it a couple days ago, and I, in my flush YAY 1860s HAPPY mindset, emailed the man in charge to see if he had any tickets left. Why yes, two people just returned them, you're in luck. Want them? Why yes! Well, only the one, actually, as I'm a sad sad little person with no friends.

Only wrinkle in this Wonderful Plan is that some casual browsing isn't finding a whole lot of hotel rooms for that weekend...not that I'm surprised! I was hoping for something within walking distance of the ball (or, you know, IN the Gettysburg Hotel would be ideal!), but that's probably not going to happen. What, Gettysburg seems to be a popular place on Remembrance Day weekend? Who knew?

Oh, and now I need an 1860s ball dress. What you mean, I'm diving into this head-first?? Now I know what I'll be sewing in November...moar 1860s!

i can't wait to finally meet you!! i hope you're able to find a hotel room... we booked ours way back in summer, and most hotels were already full...

Yes, that's definitely what I'll do next year (because this needs to be an annual thing for me!)...there are still places available outside the immediate district of Lincoln Square, I just have to see how close I can get! Probably not very! But that's okay.

And how long will you be staying? I'm thinking I should probably take that Friday off work as well if I can get it...

i'm pretty sure we'll still be doing a 20 min drive into town each day, but oh well! this is my first year going, and i'm just excited to be there!

we are gonna be there friday through sunday. i think we're planning on leaving at midnight and just driving 14 straight hours to PA! should be an adventure... XD

A 14 hour drive! Woo hoo! So when I meet you, I'll make sure I don't complain about my 2 1/2 hour drive from NJ! ;)

And I just looked at the schedule of events...and um, I didn't realize there are TWO balls, one Friday and one Saturday! Er. I'm really hoping I got a ticket to the one you're going to! *falls over*
