Try this again...

(I first tried to post this two days ago...hence the references to "nice weather." Been raining since then...)
Been a while since I've done one of my what-I-wear posts, and I've done a bit of shopping since then, so... Plus the weather thought it was summer today, and I got out of work with time to enjoy it, dork around, and take photos of myself!
Shoes first. I splurged a bit last week at Payless and bought four pairs of shoes. One was a boring pair of black flats for work, so not included here!
These need a cute 50s sundress to go with them, y/y?
Got two pairs of these sandals, one tan, one black. I wouldn't have, but I am SO INCREDIBLY PICKY when it comes to sandals, figured it was best to snag these! I wore my previous pair of sandals for three years, until they died. And I hate flipflops, unless I'm actually at the beach or the pool. Yes, I'm an old person! GET OFF MY LAWN, DAMN KIDS.
These are from my pet thrift store...darling little Indian flats. (Yes, I'm fairly sure they're from India; the size makes no sense, and I've seen my friends' mothers wearing similar ones!) Bonus bit of sparkly!
I also bought a Stupid Hat from work the other day, because I'm looking into having more summer hats (again, I am an Old Person). I don't especially like taking the floppy hat I have now to the beach because it is vintage and I don't especially want it full of sand. Plus...it's black. Good idea for sitting on the beach...if you want to roast your head! Anyway:

And a few clothes...This first dress I wore to work today because, again, summer-like weather, and I felt like investing time in straightening my hair, which I haven't done in months (I kind of wanted to see how long it is straight!).

(Look, I'm stuck on Anita Pallenberg and her style, what can I say?) Dress is thrifted, and the belt's from somebody's grandma, if anyone wanted to know (somebody at work did. They all loved it, which I found somewhat amusing. Pleasing, but amusing...I'm just stealing it right out of forty-five-year old pictures!)

More I'm-a-damn-hippie-aren't-I clothes...

I think that's my new favoritedamn hippie shirt...it was actually sold as a dress, and was hanging on the rack with the dresses. Um...that's not a dress. Not ass-covering: not a dress. And I wear short skirts! But that's no dress. And in the white dress, I have a desire to run around meadows and take arty-farty, fuzzy pictures.
And, funny (to me): I re-watched Marie Antoinette today, since I was off work and it's been quite a while since I saw it, and one of the first things I noticed..."Wait, wait...Marianne Faithfull plays Maria Therese?! How did I not notice this?" Probably because last time I watched it, I didn't know who Marianne was. So -- it HAS been quite a while, then!

Date: 2011-04-14 02:45 pm (UTC)I loved the movie Marie Antoinette, but it really is strange when the realization dawns on you that Marianne is in it :) Oh well I'm glad she is still acting.
