Fabric-buying

rose_bertin and I have been plotting. (To refresh, I'm making the white dress in the icon.) I did deviate from the portrait already...because I bought this organdy, which is striped. (Me, buying striped fabric? SHOCKER, I know.) The stripes aren't super-obvious, though, so I think they'll just add a bit of texture to the dress rather than be obnoxious (like my striped fabric purchases usually are!). Let's hope, because I just bought fifteen yards of it.
Also got some of this silk/cotton for the base of the dress...I was originally thinking of just using plain cotton for the base, but this only costs a bit more, and hopefully the silk content will mean it doesn't have as much friction with the petticoat, which is plain cotton. (You know...that look where a bit of your dress gets stuck out of place somewhere you can't see, so you look like you didn't check yourself when you came from the bathroom? I'd like to decrease the probability of that happening, which with cotton-on-cotton I've found to be increased!)
