1840s mantle

I spent most of the day out Doing Stuff, but came home determined to Sew Something.

Well, okay. I put on the petticoats and tried it on over them, and it looks considerably better, if still very lint-covered. A couple in-progress photos, really for my own benefit. Because if I ever decide to make another one of these things, I'll probably forget how to do it and then be mad I have to figure it out all over again. (It's happened before!)

(Front piece, back piece in half, back piece with velveteen, top-back piece plus cat)
Plans didn't change hugely from the last time I posted about this (when I was still going to make the dress out of black silk), I just used brown velveteen instead of black cotton velvet. The lining is pink cotton, and the interlining is flannel (why burgundy? I dunno, thought it was more fun than black or white!), and consequently has pretty good weight.
Going to weigh two hundred pounds in this getup, I swear.
It's all machine-sewn so far, and will continue to be until I put the fake-fur trim on (and that's only because I can't get away with shoving that under the machine!) Have to hem most of it, and obviously put the trim on, but I think I might be able to finish that tomorrow. Crunch time is approaching!
Also, funny: they've scheduled a Meeting for the night of the 23rd at work (these Meetings are going to be a regular thing now, apparently, for teamwork-building and other such crap, hooray. The first one's this Sunday), and if they think I am going to it, they have another think coming.
