People, I sewed something! Yay!
Really, I sewed a waistband, as the rest of it was done, but at least it's something.
To recap: The petticoat is made of three yards of 56" wide linen, now down to about 36", because of all the tucks! There are 24 lines of cording, and yes, they're all wonderfully crooked, because I didn't think it was worth my time to mark the spacing before I sewed it. And I'm okay with that! The cording is thick hemp, more like twine, I guess; whatever the stuff in Wal-Mart's craft section can be considered. And I just did the math, and there are almost 73 yards of cord in this petticoat! And it feels like it...still want to weigh it, because I'm curious.

Please note green fuzzy socks. Seems winter's here for the moment!
I still need to make a bumpad to give the back of the skirt a better shape, but am out of stuffing at the moment, so I'll finish that later. Now I need to work on the corset...ugh. Don't know how much sewing I'm going to get around to tomorrow, but we'll see!
I am pretty impressed with how well the cording holds out the petticoat, though. I'm looking forward to getting this 1840s outfit together...I really hope I can end up going to the Poe event! (Otherwise I'll just have to wander around the late-18thc cemetery down the street and get Lil Sis to take photos of me in the dress...heh.)
