Wow, I've been boring lately! And I have every intention of continuing to be boring, though not for quite the same reason. School and work just took over my life there for a little bit there -- didn't have time to sew much of anything, so you get no posts! Now I have no school and no work (for now. Optimism?), so I've got time to do Other Things.
Those Other Things may or may not involve sewing...I've got absolutely no reason to make any new costumes at the moment (not like that's stopped me before) and no burning desire to make any particular costume, so I dunno about that. I've got enough fabric for five or six everyday dresses at this point (but no zippers; how stupid is that?), and I do feel like sewing those, so I've been working on a Burda dress yesterday and today. Need to get a zipper.
And I've cut myself off with the fabric-buying, for an indefinite amount of time. (One exception, which I haven't bought yet but will gleefully show off when I do.) I've got enough fabric for a lot of costumes, and I do not need ANY MORE DRESSES, CONTROL YOURSELF, WOMAN! I figure putting this on LJ might make me actually stick to this non-fabric-buying thing! Strength in numbers? (Or enablers. Whatever.)
Bought a hat, though. (That's not fabric!) I'm going down the shore with my family next week (there will be a sudden drop in number of posts...no, not really. That's impossible) and every time we go, I complain and complain about not having a hat. I DON'T LIKE THE SUN. Jersey girl fail. I could just go in a shop and buy a hat, but I'm picky, and hate hats I think might make me look stupid. (Something I clearly don't worry about in costume!) Hence, I searched out a Cool Vintage Hat on the internet, and bought it. It got here today, and I wore it around all day inside the house for no real reason, other than I loves it.

(Okay, I realize a black hat down the shore is not the cleverest thing I've ever done, but I'm not exactly planning on sitting on the beach at noon, so I will DEAL! And this was by far my favorite hat!) I've got no idea of just how "vintage" it is -- 20thc hats are not my forte! -- but it wasn't much more expensive than a decent modern hat of the same size, and was less than some I've seen. And I like it waaay better! It was listed as black Milan straw which means pretty much nothing to me, but it's very nice! Okay, enough about the hat.
(I don't know what color my hair is in that second pic or why it is that color...the flash does weird things! I swear it's not that color! And I haven't dyed it for six months anyway, so there's no reason for it to be that color! *is weirded out*)
