Why are the stays STILL NOT DONE, ARGH. Oh, because I'm the slowest person in the world at binding stays, that's right.

Had a mostly lovely day today, as [livejournal.com profile] rose_bertin is in Philly now, since she is here to play dress-up with me has a summer internship up here, and we spent a couple of hours in Fabric Row. I hadn't been over there in a couple of years. What we've decided: the shops there are very good if you're looking for some kinds of cool fabric (like sparkly! so many sparklies!)  or expensive changeable silk (I've been spoiled by fabric.com and its sales), especially for drapery. Oh, and gigantic tassels. Really, really enormous tassels. The shops are not very good, however, for anything remotely related to hat-making. It was pretty funny how many shops we went into, asking for buckram, and they all tried to say somebody else had it. "Oh, Albert Zoll has it." "No they don't, we were already in there." "Um...Oh."

Pennsylvania Fabric Outlet was the only one that had any type of buckram, so [livejournal.com profile] rose_bertin bought some. It was pretty wimpy stuff, so she plans to put a couple layers together. I'm too lazy, and decided to just order it online somewhere. Same with feathers for my Big Pink Hat...only one store we went in had ostrich feathers in stock, and I'm no feather expert, but they looked kinda wimpy for $9 feathers. People who have bought feathers online, where have you gotten yours? There are a bunch of sites...

The weather was absolutely beautiful to be walking in the city, and walking through the historic district, I was treated to the sight of the wonderfully dressed tour guides. Oh, those mob caps... Katy and I can't wait to show them all up with our fabulousness. XD

Less fun: went to my orthodontist appointment after our Fabric Row tour, for pretty much no reason. My resident wrote down the wrong time, so she wasn't there. I was displeased. So it's rescheduled for Friday morning at 10am. Well, I figured if I stay over after Katy's birthday, I'll be in the city anyway? *sigh* TAKE THESE THINGS OFF ALREADY, DAMMIT!

There is a store on the row that does have monstrous ostrich feathers--they're like 3 feet long. I don't know how much they cost or the name of the store.

Hm, didn't see any feathers that could be called monstrous...but a couple of the stores were closed. I think it'll just be easier to get them online...I'm only going to get one or two plumes, and the rest can just be drabs, which seem to be pretty cheap on all the sites!

I know, I was like, really? You WROTE DOWN THE WRONG TIME?? Grrr. At least she didn't try to reschedule it for two weeks from now or something. Then I'd be really annoyed!

Our hats will kick those crappy polyester blend mob caps' asses so hard, they won't know what hit them! XD I think those caps offend me more than they should...I just hate them SO VERY MUCH.

Poly-blend can do that to a person.
