Moar stays

Finished the eyelets this afternoon! *falls over* (Well technically I've got to put them in the straps as well after I put the binding on, but 4 is nothing next to 52!) Tried them on and happily there's nothing seriously horrible wrong with them -- always a good thing. I was going to give myself a break from stays until tomorrow so as not to drive myself insane, but after a few hours realized I'm already insane so it doesn't matter. I only did a little bit of work compared to millions of eyelets; worked on getting the binding for the stays together. I'm using pink shantung because I like pink and green together! It's poly, but I think it's very pretty, so I'm using it. Nyah. It's in bits and pieces, left over from a crappy and therefore uncompleted project from...wow, the end of 2005. Figured it's high time I use it. Only got the strips all sewn together and ironed, then ironed my finger and decided it was time to update LJ and stop the ironing. I can continue ironing my fingers tomorrow!
Commence crap quality mirror-photos.

The tabs aren't cut, and the straps (which are pinned down so they stay the heck out of my way with their fraying fun) will hoist the whole thing up a little tiny bit. They are low in the front, which is partly on purpose and partly not...my other stays are high enough in front that they creep out sometimes when I wear them all day and I have to keep tugging at the dress. Slight annoyance, but still. So...I meant to make them low, but maybe not that low. Boarder-line indecent! Not like I'll be wearing them out and about as a shirt or anything, though, so it doesn't matter that much.
Dunno what possessed me to make the back that long; it's pretty freaking long! I trimmed a tiny bit off after I took the pics, but I didn't want to mess with actually cutting the boning. They don't poke me or anything, so I think I'll leave it long. (Famous last words...) Well, worst-case, if they do poke, I can always take the binding off and trim them down!
And speaking of the binding...

It's a little more pastel than the picture shows, but I love how it looks with the green silk. So far, still a happy camper as regards these stays!
(Note to self: buy pink ribbon to lace stays.)
Also, it smells like there's garbage directly outside my window, and when I have the fan on, it blows garbage air directly into my face. Charming.
