I finished stuff; yay! Namely the Foy corset. I'm pretty pleased with it; there is definitely some wonkiness in the front where the hip gores are sewn in that I'm irritated about, but it's not a huge deal. Plus I'm cutting myself some slack here as it's my first 19thc corset...my 16thc effigy corset and the 18thc stays I've made are constructed much more simply!

First, the patent for the Foy corset that I scaled up using my finest BS method, in which I discovered I have no hips. Hmm, maybe I should try some 1910s or 20s costumes some time...

And mine. Of course I had to put on the chemise and drawers as well, and include them in the pictures! Hey, I haven't posted pictures of them yet...

The open-leg drawers kind of crack me up, especially in the side view, where the chmise is puffing out and making it look like I have an ass. A weird-shaped ass...

Now I get to either finish off the petticoat and the fastening on the bustle, or flail around with the Tudor, which I worked on a little bit yesterday, but then it pissed me off for the umpteenth time, plus it was horribly hot and humid yesterday, and there was no way I was wrestling myself into a kirtle and a ton of velveteen to mock sleeves up on that thing. Because if I work on both of these things, the odds are quite good that I won't actually finish either of them. Yeeeah. Whatever.

Wow, very nice! I'm impressed! I need a new Victorian corset, and I hate making undies!

Why thank you! This corset certainly was more of a pain to make than any of my 16th/18thc ones...of course, that probably won't stop me from making other ones later, heh. Personally, I hate making shifts and chemises most of all, and I'm not sure why. It's not like they're hard to make, 'specially in comparison to a corset...guess we all have those bits of costuming we just can't stand to do, for whatever reason!

XD Thank you! I don't know at all why I like making hats and corsets...it's really not as if I have any idea what I'm doing; I just take a deep breath, jump right in, and hope it doesn't turn out looking like crap! Luck has been with me lately, it seems, though, lol.
