trim, what? and other things

So I am looking at a very late night, as I got a bee in my bonnet today to get that damn twisted trim on the dress, come hell or high water! (o, hi, motivation. Where were you last week when I wanted you??) I still have tomorrow-minus-work for sewing, so I think I can get it done. We'll find out!

I'd promised my best-friend-from-high-school that I'd see Beauty and the Beast with her this week, so now we're up to twice. Somewhat surprisingly I think I actually enjoyed it more the second time. Probably because none of the WTF choices were unpleasant surprises on this viewing! I still hate the yellow dress and ear wire with the fire of a thousand suns, though.

And I dithered over whether to accept the new LJ user agreement. I read it, and it's shady. Not that I think it'll really affect me or my use of LJ (I know there's no such thing as privacy online anyway!),  but am I really interested in supporting a platform that's so able to crack down on political dissidents in their home country? I guess so...for now. I'm really going to make more of an effort to interact more here (DW) rather than LJ from now on.

I feel the same way about the new LJ user agreement- it's the sign I needed that it's time to switch over to Dreamwidth as much as I can. Even if it won't affect me personally, I don't feel right supporting the censorship of other users.

On a more light-hearted note, I know how you feel about the live-action Beauty & the Beast ball dress- it's just a godawful modern prom dress, ugh. But none of my Disney-loving real-life friends have the slightest interest in historical fashion and they don't understand my pain one bit, alas!

Oh, that is SO sad! ;) I'm fortunate enough to have some local costumer besties that are happy to abuse all Emma Watson's bad costumes with me! We haven't watched it *together* in theaters because I think we all agree that there are too many things we need to yell at, but once it gets a home release we're going to get together and yell very happily.

I was hesitant too. I particularly wasn't sure about the posting as non-exclusive license to them part. I don't know whether that was in the original agreement I accepted or not. If it just means that they need to have some kind of license to display pages from their servers, no problem, but I'm not thrilled with the idea that it might mean that they can do whatever they please with what I've written. Too bad I don't speak legalese.

Yes, that seemed like a shady bit too! Not to mention, even if you're one of the rare people who can really understand that jargon, you'd better know it in the original Russian, as the English translation isn't legally binding! And that, I think, *is* unusual. Shaaaaaady.

Yeah, I thought that was an odd thing...how many people who aren't Russian speak Russian?
