Spangles!

Welp, I finally went and ordered 2600 metal spangles tonight for That Dress. The sale was over tomorrow so I really needed to make a decision tonight - and went UM UM UM SPANGLES I GUESS!

Although I managed to go through the entire ordering process without noticing that I'd put gilt spangles rather than silver-plated in my cart, LOL. In my defense, they're the same price and have the same picture! I'm sure I could get that resolved easily, but I thought about it a bit, and decided I might even rather have gold spangles rather than silver, since I'm not trying to reproduce the dress exactly anyway.

So, gold-spangled dress it is! Wheeeeee.

Gold spangles will stand out so much better on white than silver. Silver looks so good on antique textiles because it's at least partially tarnished, but I almost cried when I realized how completely it vanishes in white when it's pristine. Only light and movement will bring it out. Which is nice too, but so disappointing to photograph and blog.

Oooh, that's a good point! I didn't even think about that, but now that you say it, I remember you blogging about how disappointing it was on your dress, in terms of pictures. Probably a good mistake, then!
