I put the last stitches in this morning, and managed to squeeze in a photoshoot before Lil' Sis left for work. And even the weather was compliant; it's practically a heat wave here right now, so I wasn't quite freezing to death in my thin silk dress. Quite.

I'm very grateful to Lil' Sis for being such an accommodating photographer - her only problem is not noticing when outfitty bits come askew. She doesn't really know how it's supposed to look, so it's not her fault, but sometimes I go to upload my pictures and notice that a shift is hanging out or a hat is crooked or what-have-you. So, I apologise for having a shift sleeve showing, and entirely more fringe than I meant to be hanging down off that turban. The turban especially looks silly, but it is what it is! I'm not good enough to photoshop errant fringe out of a picture. :P

Why the turban, you ask? Entirely because I didn't want to bother doing my hair for a ten-minute shoot, and I wanted to hide as much as possible the anachronistic side-part I've been wearing lately! Definitely not re-doing that for a ten-minute shoot!

The doofy fringes in all their glory! And the shift-sleeve.

Let's talk about the fit on this bodice. Actually, let's not. It's really not so great, though hopefully you can't tell in pictures. We can, however, talk about the underoos that show in the back view...

Why yes, that's my stays peeking out to say hello! I'd need stays cut just an inch or two lower in back - but I don't care enough. I also ought to make a darker petticoat to wear underneath this dress. It's not so much that you can see the white through it (though you can), but that you can see where it ends, mid-calf! Buuut I probably won't, since it's only going to be worn to low-light evening events and it's not nearly as visible then.

"Have my shift sleeves been hanging out this whole time? Of course they have."

"OOOH A BIG TREE"

"I MUST CLIMB IT!" "You're going to rip your dress. " "NO I WON'T."

"I've been climbing trees for longer than YOU'VE BEEN ALIVE. I'm a PROFESSIONAL."

Oh, and the sleeves? Yeah, they're okay. The points do stick out in a very determined and slightly silly manner (and they flop in the wind) but since they're slightly uneven, I think it's the lesser of two weevils to leave them the way they are rather than tack them down.

Now...what to work on next??? I think I'll make a separate post about it later, since you know I can get wordy when it comes to Costume Planning!
