Quilted petticoat

A petticoat really shouldn't take me three days to put together...but I kept putting it aside, because pulling out the top five inches of stitching was far more annoying than anticipated! And the feel of the poly batting gave me the creeps. Especially when it would catch on the rough bits of my fingers. *shudder*
(Felt gives me the creeps too, and I don't know why. Just can't stand how it feels! Weird tactile thing I've got...)
So, yes - after the hem binding was on, I pulled out the top five or so inches of stitching so I could cut out the batting. Otherwise I'd have the fattest waistband on the planet, with the velvet and all! I ended up trimming the wool lining down as well, though not as far down as the batting. Just a couple inches to keep it out of the pleats.
I probably should have just cut the whole thing three inches shorter and sewn a band of linen at the top to avoid bulk in the pleats, but somehow that seemed like more work when I started off. Pretty sure it would have been less work than all this. Oh well.
Anyway, the pleats are basted into place, and I just have to add the waist tapes and it'll be done. Ideally, tomorrow.
