Poe Forevermore
Mar. 5th, 2012 12:22 amI took pictures! More than usual, actually. Be proud of me. Had a lovely time with
isabelladangelo,
quincy134,
frau_elsebeth, and her long-suffering relations, who apparently didn't mind too much being out with a group of unusually-dressed ladies! Even if I was completely improperly dressed for the 1840s. :P
I managed to not be the last one to meet at the James Joyce Pub yesterday evening - I'll thank Google Maps for that! Not because I used it, but because
isabelladangelo did, so it made her later than me. *grin* On the bright side, I didn't have to tell the hostess what group I was with!
After dinner, we headed over to Westminster Hall, and I managed to park in a garage I wasn't supposed to for free - probably because the security guy thought I was a nutter and he felt sorry for me!
Anyway, the program was very good, even if we were in the last row of the balcony, not the front row where we usually get to sit! The "Bronte sisters" got to sit up front this time, apparently (because they were so well dressed, perhaps! ahem). But that was okay, because we needed all that room for our skirts. And my bad behavior. What, you mean nearly flipping up one's hoop while sitting down and causing one's friends to have a gigglefit when the rest of the audience has quieted down waiting for the program to start, isn't ladylike? *tries to look innocent*

I was amused by these pictures...one's a picture taken by
isabelladangelo of
quincy134 taking a picture of me...and then the vice versa one!

It seems I cannot find my pocket...

Getting laced up properly! Also very ladylike, right?

Shoe shot! Of course.

John Astin was of course the best part of the program, and in a seat that wasn't a mightily uncomfortable folding chair I'd have happily listened to him for even longer!
(And I admit, I wasn't expecting the men's chorus to break out into "Once Upon A December"...hahahaha!)
After the program was over, we took pictures at Poe's grave and then, instigated by yours truly, prowled round the cemetery for a bit - I like cemeteries! Especially at night, and we in our 19th century dresses...deliciously atmospheric!
I appear to have dented my bonnet from dropping it on the ground, and hadn't noticed before all these pics, whoopsie. (Looking all sad here, because, like I cheerfully said, "Poe's dead! Let's BE SAD!"

Upon the discovery that the lights set in the path lit my skirt up like I was a jack-o-lantern, I was incredibly gleeful. "Look, I'm a pumpkin! I MEAN A JACK-O-LANTERN!"

Yay graveyards!

I love this one that Isabella took when we were in a little allyway behind some crypts...the moon over the Hall looked so cool, but no one could really get a great shot - this is the best. Very Poe-ish, no?

And this one's from Gloria. I'm so ghostly. Hee!

Oh, and one cannot forget the Free Poster we all received, which I stuck on my wall today - of Vincent Price at Poe's grave. (They should have given them out last year!)
