post-vacation
Jul. 26th, 2021 03:50 pmMy laptop has gone back to HP for a wee visit (Yes, it's still within warranty, yes you should fix the occasionally flickering screen, THANK YOU) so they're won't be any picture posts till it's back home. (I really hate attempting long/picture posts on the phone!) Short version: vacation was good!
There's not really much for a writeup, as all we really did was eat, drink, hang out, wear funny clothes, and take eight million pictures. (Not me. I'm resistant to pictures of me, but they're are some!) We did go on a tour of the relatively small cave that was on the property, the main claim to fame of which is that it was a munitions storage for the Union during the Civil War, so there's a bunch of graffiti and carvings from soldiers, which was pretty interesting. Also caves are just cool! Shenandoah is simply crawling with caves (some of which are more impressive tbh, but it was still really enjoyable!).
The house we stayed in was really nice (and had working toilets! Woo hoo!), although we did have a few small notes, including "why is there no kettle wtf, this is a copiously tea-drinking group." Rhe house is on a working farm, so we were surrounded by cow pasture on three sides. Lovely and indeed full of cows. The cows thought we were weird AF, and moved away whenever we got too close!
The trip was technically Friday-Monday, but Robin ended up having to work Monday, so we left Sunday afternoon, as we drove down together. We could have driven down separately, but after some thought I decided I'd rather spend the time in a car with my bestie - I hadn't seen her for months, so having those eight hours total of driving time together was more important. (Plus then I only had to drive four of those eight hours, haha!)
I don't go back to school til Wednesday, so I still have today and tomorrow to putz around and do nothing (and maybe unpack? Maybe). Maybe I'll even sew something! Ha ha haaaa.
