Stays: hmmmmmm

They...do not actually fit as well as the old stays that they are replacing. *slight head-tilt and narrowing of eyes*
Which is very interesting! I hasten to add, they're totally wearable and not uncomfortable. It's just little things, like...the angle of the straps is a little wacked, the top of the back stands out just enough to make a noticeable ridge under a bodice, the length is just maybe 0.5" too short, and I think the plastic whalebone on either side of the back eyelets isn't as strong as one might hope and may start bowing out with wear.
I'm going to both wear them around for a little longer, and do a closer comparison with the old stays (mercifully I didn't throw them out) before I decide whether they're acceptable or not. Although, if they're not, I should try to get the next pair finished in less than a year. That would be helpful.
And I should add, I managed by sheer dumb luck to get a very well-fitted pair of stays almost right off the bat when I started 18thc costuming, so I know exactly how a custom-made pair should fit, and these aren't quite it! They fit okay, but I want better than okay. Why yes, I'm picky...how did you know?
